RTF Element Diagram without linked element
« on: May 17, 2011, 12:08:21 pm »
I have the following structure in the project browser

Package A contains Element XYZ (BPMN – Business process).

Element XYZ contains Diagram 1 which refers to child elements D, E, F (contained within XYZ) as well as linked elements M, N, O (contained in external packages).

The RTF File I generate out of this structure does not pick up any information for linked elements contained in Diagram1. It does show notes for child elements D, E, F but nothing for M, N and O.

-      I am using EA version 8.0
-      I have ticked “Include All Diagram Element in Report” in the RTF generation window
-      And I have ticked “Package.Diagram.Element or Package.Element” in the RTF template configuration.

Hi,

I have the same problem, and there is no easier way than to create model documentation.

I'm encountering this same problem in EA 9.0.908.

I have a diagram-only view in a package.  All the elements used in the diagram come from other packages in the model.  I'd like to have a RTF report that documents everything that appears on the diagram.

Has anyone found a way to 'Include all Diagram Elements in Report' (option in Project > Documentation > Rich Text Format (RTF) Report) when the elements are all in external packages?  Ideally there is a way to do this without generating the RTF report for the entire model.

I agree this is a real pain.

Ideally one could drop elements into the model document.
Alternatively it would be handy to have package that could contain links (shadows) to the elements to be reported on.

You can specify it for the diagram, but this is totally unsatisfactory as the diagram is likely to be used in more than one place, where each contained element is not desired in the document.

Smells like a feature request to me.

Position and Team disestablished, thanks austerity.
Now itinerant.

Think there is two models of doc generation.
A) Doc things in model hierarchy
B) Doc things on diagram.

When things are in different packages not under the package I'm wanting to generate I use option B) (NB you need to also tick the "Document each contained element in RTF" in the diagram properties)
I then put all the diagrams I want under one package and generate a document showing the diagram followed by elements in it.
Not perfect but its a work around.
Happy to help
