General Board / Re: how to maintain toolbars within EA IDE
« on: October 22, 2020, 03:45:23 am »
Good morning fausto bertoli,

If I understand your problem correctly, I recommend saving as a workspace layout.

Ribbon > Start > Desktop > Workspaces > Save New Layout...  Then simply give it a name.  Sparx seems to always open with your latest workspace layout selection.

I lay out all of my docked windows as well as the Code Generation and Diagram toolbars floating over the unused ribbon space to the right, then save the workspace layout.  I always get the same layout every time I start Sparx EA.

I hope this helps.

Very respectfully,

Robert

Our primary model runs around 1GB.  Baselines and old data run it up to between 1.2 and 1.5 GB.  Then we trim it down to around 800MB.  My next objective is to setup reusable asset service where, I think, we can host the baselines separate from the data.  You should have seen it when we we had change tracking enabled.  Never try to import a large XMI with change tracking enabled.  That may have been EA 11 or 12 at the time, but overnight was not enough time.

Thank you qwerty,

I crafted it a number of years ago while awaiting a model import and merge.

Play with the visual styles.

The colored tabs only occur in one (or a few) style(s)

Geert

Thanks Geert,

I'll explore the other style options.  I have the one I like because it does not automatically scroll the horizontally.  I'm too old to be chasing content across the screen.  I see some completely color the tabs (actually kind of nice).  I'll discover which works best for me.

General Board / Docked Window (Feature) Tab Color Bars - How to Eliminate
« on: October 17, 2020, 03:28:29 am »
EA 15.2 has introduced colored lines / colored bars at the bottom of the tabs for the various docked windows.

Has anybody discovered how to disable those colored bars?

These are NOT internal tabs which can be slightly modified from the Application Look dialog (Start > Desktop > Visual Style).

Thank you for your assistance.

I might be so bold as to suggest that, in the diagram properties dialog, an option be added to show association roles (like the options to show attributes and operations - to include inherited associations).  It would also be useful if there were symbols assigned for each kind of relationship (dependency, association, aggregation at a minimum).

Does an association have to be implemented as an attribute of one or more of the endpoints, or are there other implementation options?  What if the relationship itself were implemented as a class?  Would that solve some of the problems in the solution?

Gregor,

To generate WSDL and its associated schema with Sparx EA, you MUST model WSDL and schema.

I'm guessing you've tried "modeling" (really is designing when you apply the WSDL stereotypes) only the parts you need and generating WSDL from that....

I mostly wrote to say, I feel your pain.  One feature I would love to see added to Sparx EA is the ability to generate WSDL directly from a service model.  Like you, I don't necessarily need implementation-ready WSDL/XSD.  I need enough to provide a framework to the design team.
