Oh yeah! This one works perfectly. Thx Sean.

Another question, please. I'm using Keywords field for searching for certain string. Is this field ment for this or will I destroy something in EA if I use it for this purpose - can't find anything useful in help file.

Thank you again guys!

Rgds,
 S.

Hi Bruno,

I'm trying to copy/paste data from MS Excel into MS Access, t_object table, or even try to add any new record manually - no luck.

If I try to add a new record in this table, I get the error "Index or primary key cannot contain null value". Strange is, that this (index) field is autoincrement (AutoNumber),  therefore it should work, but it doesn't. :((

What should I do?

PS: I hope it's not related to other table dependency, t_attribute, t_package,...

Thank you very much for your help,
 S.

Wow, thanx Bruno for a quick reply!

I've opened the eap file in MS Access. It seems, that I can't find the table named t_requirements even that I have quite a few of them (requirements) in the EA project (that is in this eap file). The closest name is t_requiretypes. :(

@Thomas: Great, thanx a lot! Will start looking right now for these examples. :)

Thank you guys,
 S.

Hi all,

does anyone know how to import data from Excel to EA?

For example, I would like to create requirements (for each row in Excel) and put in the required data from Excel columns.

For example, column A in the Excel contains the short description value in EA, column B in Excel contains tag of the requirement in EA, column C contains Details in EA,...

Thank you,
 S.

Oh, thank you Bruno.

Meanwhile what I tried, is to enable Select on all tables, Update on all tables ... and I finally get to the conclusion that all of those permissions are required mentioned in your post.

Hard work. :)

Thanks again!

General Board / SQL server user permissions

Hi guys,

I have another question for you. I'm using SQL server (RDBMS) and now I would like to ask you what kind of permissions on the EA database a user needs to be able to work(no admin features! - only minimum premissions that the regular user is able to work)?

Thank you,
 S.

Hi all,

I have a few questions for you EA experts:

1) Why doesn't replication (Tools->Manage .EAP File) work if I'm using a shared DBMS based repository? How to fix that? (Well, I can see that this is about EAP file, but I need the replication using DBMS)

Workaround might be to have a copy of the base as an EAP file on local HD and then transfer the data in to the DBMS? But this is not useful, than I don't need DBMS. The problem is, that in our office we need team colaboration, but we also have a need for replication because our subcontractor is also using this EA project. How to solve this problem?

2) If I create two replicas out of the master (using local project) and I, for example, create a connection type between two nodes (deployment diagram) in replica1 as associate and in the replica2 I change the connection type to realize.

Then I open master again and try to synchronize both replicas with master, first replica1 and then replica2; EA is not detecting any conflicts - the result, I have the diagram state as it was in the last merged replica. How come? Shouldn't the EA detect that when I go to Tools->Manage .EAP File->Resolve replica confilcts?

Is it possible somehow to merge more replicas at the same time? Maybe I misunderstood the help file how to merge replicas... but I can't find any detailed info about that.

Then, if I start a synchronization from the replica with master, conflicts are detected, but this dialog box only shows the table where the confilct occured with row ID, this is really hard to identify, where exactly is the conflict in the diagram??? (no visual pointout?)

Please answer me.

Thx,
 S.
