By default, bezier line style is only available for state transitions and, I think, control and object flows.

If you want bezier style for any other connector type, give the connector a tagged value named "_Bezier" (case is important) with value "1". You can use this tagged value in Profiles for your own connector stereotypes. You probably shouldn't try it with assembly connectors :/
Could I suggest that with all these non-standard (but obviously useful) mechanisms that all be allowed...  That is, leave it up to the modeller and just mark them as non-standard in the menus and documentation?

It's just a pain having to continually "get around" the UI.  When the "engine" allows it but the UI doesn't.  Or worse still, one route through the UI doesn't, but a different route does!

I totally agree!

General Board / How to escape special characters in model search
« on: June 14, 2011, 04:23:38 am »
Hi,

Some of the elements in the model have a "?" in their title. How can I search for elements containing a "?" in the title? The "?" seems to be a kind of wildcard character in the model search.

Thanks,
Jakob

General Board / Re: MOF Diagrams - what use are they?

I can see from the EA Help what a MOF diagram is, but what use is it in the EA context?  Can I use it to define new types of Classifiers for example?  I want to define a new type of Classifier called a Term (as part of an Ontological Modelling MDG).

The best I can do so far is to create a stereotyped Class - which doesn't do what I need as it's still a Class not a Term.  I want to mimic what Sparx did when they created Requirements, Changes & Feature elements etc...

Has anybody ever created a MOF diagram?  What did you use it for?

TIA,
Paolo

I'm looking for an answer to this question, too. Is there no answer available, yet?

Hey Simon,

Thanks for your reply. I found that, too. I'm trying to use this feature in my add-in: http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1302550507

General Board / Is it possible hide/show details based on layers?
« on: April 12, 2011, 01:12:17 am »
Hi,

I'm wondering if it's possible to link elements of a model to certain layers. A user should be able to hide/show all elements and their associations linked to a certain layer. This would be very useful to reduce the complexity of a model and to provide several view points for different stakeholders by simple hiding/showing certain layers.

Do you know if there is a built-in functionality or an add-in available for this issue?

Thanks a lot,
Jakob

Bugs and Issues / Re: MDG Toolbox Metadata Broken

ImagesOnly (upper-case "I") appears to be case-sensitive. It also appears to only work the very first time it is encountered - thereafter, it is displayed the same as the previous time.
Neil,

Can you clarify please?  I'm afraid, I can't understand what the second sentence means...

Paolo
Say you have a toolbox which has the ImagesOnly attribute set to true. It's linked to a custom diagram type so that when you open the diagram the toolbox opens automatically. The very first time you open one of these custom diagrams, the fact that the toolbox is images only gets stored in the registry (even if you don't touch the toolbox window). So, if you then decide you want to change your toolbox profile, setting ImagesOnly to false, it won't have any effect unless you delete your toolbox preferences from the registry. I would have expected the toolbox state to be saved on using the "Show Labels"/"Hide Labels" commands, but it's saved on displaying the toolbox.

How/where can the toolbox settings be deleted?

Edit: I found it by myself: Using regedit and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems\EA400\EA\Toolbox_Options

I'm facing the same problem. You might take a look at this thread: http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1249357297/6

Uml Process / Re: Creating Templates for the Model Wizard

Is it possible to include this XMI file into the MDG technology file, or has the model template XMI file always to be shipped separately?

For anyone facing the same problem:

Provided you are saving your toolbox profile by right-clicking on the diagram not the package, you can change the toolbox order by changing the Z-Order of the objects on the diagram.  By default the first stereotype class placed on the diagram will have the lowest Z-Order and the most recent element placed on the diagram will have the highest.  You can adjust the Z-Order of elements as described in the "Z Order Elements" EA help topic.

Hi,

Is it possible to define the sort order of my custom toolbox pages defined in my profile? I'd like to rearrange the pages but I don't know how to do that.

Thanks a lot,
Jakob

That's it!

Thank you very much!

But it seems not to work when you're using a custom shapescript to visualize the composite elements...

Hi,

I'm working with custom shapescripts to visualize my stereotypes. I was wondering how I can display the EA default overlay icon for elements that are composite. This icon seems to be always of the same size at the same position. No matter of the element's size.

Thanks for your help,
Jakob

Hi all,

I have a custom connector that's visualization of its target end should vary according to a certain attribute of the target element.

Is it somehow possible to check attributes of a connector's target element in a shapescript?

Thank you!
