General Board / Re: Postgres problems
« on: September 07, 2007, 05:50:59 am »
Hi colleagues,

this is an old post - but I din't get an answer to this problem. The support wasn't able to reproduce the problem.

The postgres-database cannot be used at the moment. I tried it again with the new release 7.

Best regards,
Andreas

Sorry, I forgot to mention: I'm using PostgreSQL 8.2 for Windows (XP)

General Board / Postgres problems
« on: March 22, 2007, 07:29:43 am »
Hi friends,

I set up a Postgres database and connected to it. It seems to work fine, but after a while I discovered some odd behaviour.

-If I try to add an package to an domain model, the package appears in the project browser, but there is no graphic on the screen. The model remains complete empty. If the model is stored on the filesystem, everything works fine. It is possible to transfer from file to database - the domain model will be drawn correctly, but it isn't possible to add further packages, the same behaviour as beforhand.

-If I try to safe a *.rtf template, I get the message:

"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers[]
Warning: nonstandard use of \\ in a string literal"

The logfile contains:

2007-03-22 16:19:54 WARNING:  nonstandard use of \\ in a string literal at character 65
2007-03-22 16:19:54 HINT:  Use the escape string syntax for backslashes, e.g., E'\\'.

Maybe I did something wrong setting up the database. Is there any information about the correct encoding or other important clues to create the database (I used unicode)?

Thanks a lot in advance!

General Board / How to create EMF or WMF for GUI-Elements?
« on: April 18, 2007, 09:42:16 am »
Hi EA-friends,

I tried to create an emf-file for usage as an gui-element in enterprise architect. I did this with Macromedia Flash, but this is obviously the wrong choice. What I need is a special behaviour for the resize - you could see, what I mean if you  check the swf, contained in this zip:  http://www.java-freak.com/temp/emfTest.zip

I have no experience with emf tools and appreciate your advice. Which tool used the EA team to create the build in gui elements? Thanks in advance!

General Board / System Glossary Type
« on: April 16, 2007, 02:05:54 am »
Hi friends,

is it possible to add further types to the drop down list 'Glossary Type'. There are only 2 types, technical and business. Thanks in advance!

Thank you David. I just asked the support and wait now for an answer. I'll write it in this forum, if there is a solution available.

Thank you for your answer! Unfortunately this way doesn't seem to fix the problem. I created the file without problems but EA isn't able to open it, because the dialogue-window allows only *.eap files.

I tried to use *.* to make the dsn-file visible, but EA didn't accept the fileformat. The message displayed is: 'Existing files may not be overwritten. Please type the name of a new file.' This message doesn't make any sense to me.

Is it possible that Sparxs had forgotten to implement this feature? Any other advice?

Thanks,
Andreas

General Board / How to connect from Eclipse to a Server Repository
« on: March 10, 2007, 10:26:41 am »
Hi all,

I followed the help to set up a postgres database and move a project from file to the database. It works fine in EA.

Now I'm trying to connect from an Eclipse project to the model (it was connected already when it was a file). In Eclipse I chose
Enterprise Architect > EA Project Explorer > Connect to a Server Repository and clicked ok. But now I got only the choose file dialogue? What are the necessary steps to get the model connected?

Thanks in advance!

General Board / MDG Integration Eclipse MultipleLinkings
« on: February 28, 2007, 02:36:51 am »
Hi friends,

I didn't understand how to create multiple linkings (linking different Eclipse projects to different EA-Projects). The help says 'Right click in the Project View and select Current Package | Import Eclipse Projects', but where? In Eclipse or in EA? I didn't get such menu items in both of them.

Any advice?

Thanks,
Andreas

Oh, a second question: maybe I did a mistake during my first steps with MDG an checked 'load automatically' in the EnterprseArchitect Menu within Eclipse. Now I havent any possibility to change this setting, because the dialoge-window doesn't appear any more.

Any adivce how I could this set back?

Open current EAP file as default UML Model
If checked, Eclipse loads the model automatically.
