In UML usually the child points to the parent as teh parent can stand for it's own, and the child is dependent from the parent.

That's different from most ERD diagramming utilities (like ErWin).

I actually do consider to download and try the plugin (and I'm fine that it's a add-on, not a core feature   ).

One technical questions regarding the network protocol: Is single/simple TCP/IP port use, can the protocal easiely be tunneled using SSH or other VPN solutions?

Do you have an actual sample to find the instances of a class?
