Suggestions and Requests / Feature request: enhancing ShapeScript
« on: September 26, 2015, 04:17:00 am »
Hello,

Do you (Sparx) plan enhancing shape scripts?

I would like to ask for the following enhancements when defining model element layouts using shape scripts:

1) Add labels to any position with EA Hyperlinks.
I mean "extended" hyperlinks, which can be e.g. a link to a file or starting a script.

2) Use of variables and loops in shape scripts.

3) Using compartments or "text boxes" in any layout, not just in Rectangle layout.

4) Locate compartments in any position (e. g. multiple columns).

Thank you.

Gergely.

General Board / Auto-naming for custom types?
« on: November 30, 2015, 09:36:18 pm »
Hello,

is it possible to apply auto-naming for custom types (own UML-types or stereotypes).

Is it possible to extend the list of the types in the "Auto Name Counters" dialog?

ps I am using EA 12.

To those who may be interested,

as I know from Sparx Support, this behavior is a bug, and has been filed under issue number 15112776.

Best regards, G.

General Board / Adding templated elements to SpecificationManager
« on: November 30, 2015, 09:45:38 pm »
Hello,

I don't know if it is a bug or feature.

After defining a template package using Project / Settings / Project Template Package, I can use the elements of that package as templates when adding new elements to a diagram. This is fine.

But when adding new elements
- in the project browser
- or to a list view
- or to as requirement list view
this feature does not work.

E. g. I would like to use Requirement objects with some template text in the Notes field. It only works if I add the objects to a normal diagram first, then change the view to Requirement Manager.

This is quite inconvenient, if you have to use nested objects.

There is a workaround however:
1) throw all elements to a diagram,
2) then set up the tree in the project browser
3) and then set to Specification Manager view.

Thank you.

Best regards, Gergely

Thank you, Uffe!

I will propose to have it; or if I'll have the time I'll try to write that add-in.

Best regards, Gergely

Hi,

do you know if there is an EA API function for selecting an element on a diagram?

If yes, the solution could be:
- create a tagged value for referencing the target diagram
- create a tagged value for referencing the element
- create an addin, which
   1) is activated by context menu
   2) reads the tagged values containing the diagram and element references
   3) determines the diagram element reference
   4) passes the diagram element reference to the EA API to select it

... well, at least theoretically...

Bets regards,
Gergely

Thank you very much, Qwerty,

I will check your script.
I found a lot of interesting things on your page.

General Board / Hyperlink to a specific element of a diagram?
« on: October 23, 2015, 05:45:32 am »
Hello,

I know it is possible to make a hyperlink on a diagram to another diagram. It is also possible to make a hyperlink to a model element - it will be highlighted in Project Browser.

Is it possible somehow to set a hyperlink from a diagram to a specific element of another diagram? On click the editor shows the diagram and the linked element is selected (highlighted).
Similarly as like the '#' anchor in HTML URLs.

Would be great for model navigation.

Thank you,
Gergely.

Hi Charles,

I have the same experience with EA12, even with local .eap files.

Dear All,

juts let you know that I asked for some feature enhancement, see http://www.sparxsystems.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1443205021

Best regards,
Gergely

Hi querty,

no good news. Anyway, thank you for the answer.

Thank you Geert,

then I'll ask for it. But at least I will ask if Sparx plans already some extensions.

Nevertheless, there is a second question: is it possible to implement enhanced behavior / presentation using external add-ins? E. g.
- use compartments with different background colors,
- multiple columns,
- listing content of the element with loop.

Thank you,
Gergely
