General Board / EA vs MagicDraw UML

Hi
I'd wish to see or know about a comparison chart between EA and MagicDraw UML.

I've downloaded Magic Draw UML and it looks pretty cool tool but EA is a very good one also. I haven't had enough time to test both tools to their limits and that's why I'm asking for a good comparison chart.

Do you know if this issue has been solved in the last release?

Another feature I don't know about is if EA can reverse a DB from an SQL script. at least I haven't find this feature at the moment.

Can you tell me so EA team?

I have read it.
I have MySQL version 5 installed and my ODBC driver is 3.51 so I can't understand why it's not working.
I created the repo schema with the Innodb EA script.
When I use the EA file I don't have this problem.
Can anyone help me with these please?

I've already checked the 2 special options for the MySQL ODBC connection. (Don't optimize column width and Return matching rows)

General Board / Problems with FK in Data model using MySQL as repo

Hi,

I'm having trouble when trying to edit or create a new FK association for my Data Model when using MySQL for storing the model repository. I'm getting the next error message:

After 2 identycal messages it opens the FK dialog but the involved tables attributes neither appear in the source and target area.

I hope you can help me to find a solution.

The version is 6.5.801

Hi,
The problems seems to persist in the new build 651.
I syncronized the tables but the problems is there yet.
The problem is not the FK recognition, but the respective FK relationships. I mean the table shows there are FK on it, but it just draw the First FK relationship. It doesn't draw the other FK relationships the table has too.

I received an answer from EA team telling me the problem was gonna be fixed for build 650, but 651 is out and the problem is still present.
I'd like to know which build will fix this bug

well, build 650 has been released but looking for the change I got disapointed  

I hope the next release fix this long waited (at least, speaking just for myself) bug

i'd just like to know when are you planning to solve this foreign key bug.   as i have seen the 2 last revision history (648 and 649) and i haven't seen this fix yet

General Board / ForeignKey Relationships & DDL Reverse Enginee

 Hi,
I'm having problems with the DDL Reverse Engineer option of EA.

The problem arrises when a table has more than one Foreign key. The Table shows all the foreign keys, BUT EA only creates a relationship just for the first Foreign Key in the table.

I´m using MySQL with ODBC Driver 3.51.
ERWin has no problems in reverse engineer the same DB with the Same ODBC driver.

Is it an EA BUG?

Please Help me

I can create line points, but I don´t see any option letting me to delete that point I've created.

Hi,
I'm having almost the same problems about foreign keys, but i´m using the MySQL ODBC Driver.

The problem i have is when i reverse engineer my DB.
EA just get one Foreign Key for each table  .

I though it was something wrong about my DB, because EA presented some dialogs warning me about repeated indexes.

But when I reverse engineer my DB in ERWin (i guess you know it) there weren´t any problems and all the foreign keys were in place.

Can anybody tell me why?  :-/

Another thing i was wondering is if there some way i can reverse engineer a DB model from an SQL Script.

Uml Process / Generalization Set in UML 2.0

Hi,
I was wondering how can I model Generalization Sets in EA.

As you know this refers to the fact that a class could have different types of clasification, for instance, a Person could be Man o Woman, but also could be a Student or Profesor, etc..

UML 2 allows generalization set to group the diferent types of clasification, but a I don't know how I can model this in EA.
