General Board / Inheritance of stereotypes, "object stereotyp

Hello all of you!

1)
When a classifier has a stereotype (e.g. a class),
does this stereotype implictly apply to any subclass?

What does the OMG / UML Spec say?

2)
In how far does the EA-API support this:

When you call GetStereotypeEx for a subclass, are the Stereotypes of parent classes included in the result set?

3)
A class may have a stereotype "test"; when you call
GetStereotypeEx on an OBJECT of that class, is then "test" returned as well?

Bugs and Issues / Problems with JAVA-API concerning version control

Hello,

i am using the Java-API for extending EA.

We use IBM Clear Case for version control of
our EAP-files, who are located locally on the
users machine.

It works fine, but the JAVA-API has problems with the
version control related methods on org.sparx.Package (- instances respectively)!

All other methods work fine, but for instance VersionControlGetStatus() leads to a stack trace:
"NullpointerException, "could not load native library".

So, any ideas?

Hello,

the VersionControlAdd-Method does not work in Java, we use IBM-ClearCase for Version control:

the xml-file is generated and putted to a corresponding directory
under ClearCase Version Control; but in the project browser, the
package remains unchanged, that is not controlled!

An ideas, experiences

The EA user interface provides the ability to save a diagram as a jpg-image-file (or other picture format).

Is this scriptable? So is there any way to automate via API / automation interface?

Hello,

i am using the Java API, and have a problem with
RefreshModelView(int PackageID); it simply has
no effect, even if i call SetEnableUIUpdates(true)
before calling RefreshModelView

Any ideas?

Hello,

i am using the Java-API for extending EA.

I would like to now if there is any alternative to "new Repository()" (which starts an own EA.exe-process).
Ofcourse this leads to a little gap of performance.

What i would like to have is a pointer to an already running
Repository / EA-Application respectively.

the method Repository.GetApp() always returns null.

Is it planned to improve the Java-API concerning this point?

Hello,

first of all: thanks a lot for your comprehensive answer!

I use the professional edition, and the user security of the eap-file is disabled.

So i guess, that another access driver is necessary,
who does not defualt to exclusive access; but i think
it has to do with the aspect that access was made for NTFS / FAT-32?! Where can i get some other driver?

Or is there any patch that makes access working with
file systms different from NTFS / FAT 32

Hello,

i have a problem (EA version 7.0, build 817)

I have an eap-file on a file server, who does not use FAT 32
nor NTFS (but MVFS for using ClearCase).

1) I double-click on the eap-file; ea starts.
2) I double-click on the eap-file a second time; ea starts again.
3) I close the second ea-application / process
4) I double click on the eap-file again. An error occurs; "Could not lock file".

Any ideas, help is highly appreciated.

This is urgent!

Hello,

i try to delete AuditLogs using a Java-script.

But the method Repository.ClearAuditLogs(Date start, Date end)
always returns false.

1) What Java-Class has "Date" (above) exactly to be: java.util.Date or java.sql.Date (both do not work).
and with what "Format" for the constructor (simply milliseconds?)?

2) Is the method in Java just "dummy implemented", that is
regardless of parameters it always returns false?

3) Our Problem is, that some user activated Audit-View; as a consequence the amount auf audit data has increased ... even
the clear Audit Log function leads to a time out of the underlying SQL-Server.

Hello,

i am using the java automation interface.

The method Repository.GetPackageByGuid(String)
does no longer work, after a package has been set under version control (IBM clear case in my case).

I retrieve the GUID of a tree selected Package by a special programm, what i call a Java-Wrapper, and access the package in turn by the above method; this does work perfectly, as long as the package is not version controlled.

Does anyone know a solution or maybe i should work with the ID instead of the GUID?

thanks for advice, bust MISCDATA(0) and MISCDATA(1) contain
other informations, and the connectors properties also contain
information other than the parameters ...

Where the hell are the parameters ... ?

 Hello,

i am extending EA using the Java-API and have a question concerning sequence diagrams.

If a message (in other words: a connector of type "Sequence")
has not only a name but has also Parameters, how can i get / access them via API.

The method "connector.getName() just returns the "pure" message name, not its parameters ...

Does someone know?

Hello,

i am extending EA using the Java-API.

Is there any way to determine via API,
if a message (in other words: a connector of type "Sequence")
is a return-message or not.

The Properties-Collection of a connector holds a member "IsReturn", but the corresponding value is always "null", regardless if
the message is a return message or not.

Any workaround for this obvious bug?
