General Board / WAN Optimizer Activation

Hi,

we are having big performance problems with our Enterprise Architect installation. We are using a remote MySQL-Database as the EA-Repository. Now we are trying to integrate the EA WAN Optimizer into this scenario but I cann't find the Checkbox "Use WAN Optimization" as described in
http://sparxsystems.com/enterprise_architect_user_guide/13.5/model_repository/connecttomysql.html (Point 13)

Can anyone give me a hint. There is no such Checkbox in the ODBC driver settings.

Hi,

I think there is a misunderstanding.
As documented in the sparx Enterprise Architect Documentation "http://www.sparxsystems.com/resources/uml2_tutorial/uml2_sequencediagram.html" #Gate
There is a model component (Diagram Gate, Interactive Occurrence) to model a nested sequence diagrams in other sequence diagrams. From our point of view this is a helpful feature to referenz common used sequence diagrams e. g. the login procedure without duplicating the diagrams.

Uml Process / Reusing UML Sequence diagrams

Hi,

I am new in the area of modelling with the Enterprise Architect. We are in a huge Java project and we are trying to document a part of the existing system in the Enterprise Architect.
We want to reuse UML-Sequence diagrams to avoid duplicate diagrams or redundant information in the different UML-Sequence diagrams.
I have found some information about this reuse but I am not able to model what I want to.

I have learned, that I have to create a separate UML_Sequence diagram to reuse it in other diagrams.
This diagram should be dragged from the Project Browser into the "parent" diagram. The dropped diagram is wrapped into an "Interactive Occurency".
The frame is a "ref" frame.
Now I have to create a diagram gate in the "parent" diagram and connect it to the "reused" diagram.

And here are my questions:
In the "reused" sequence diagram is there an Actor or is the Actor replaced with a diagram gate?
In the property page of the "Interactive Occurency" there is a register card "Call" but I have no idea what element to select for that field.
How can I send a message (or call a method) from the "parent" diagram (lifeline) to the "reused" diagram?

Is there anywhere a step by step tutorial......something like "Reusing UML-Sequence diagrams in UML-Sequence diagrams for dummies"?

The reuse of these diagrams  would make the documentation much more readable and maintainable.

Can anyone help, please?

I didn't know that the path is stored localy, I thougt it is stored in the database.

General Board / Problem with Local Path

Hi,
I have a serious problem with the configuration of the EA User Security.
We are using EA 13.5 based on a MySQL-Server Repository. We have activated User Security and created some users and groups.
Everything works fine so far. When a logged in user now calls "Code --> Configure --> Manage Local Path" and sets his local path.
e. g. The path for the java sources is d:\sources\   . This path is visible for all other users. I don't think that this is the right behavior.
Am I doing something wrong??
Any idea??

Perfect, I have change the Classes from Link to Lifeline when importing them into the diagrams and I can export and import without problems.

Hi,
maybe this problem is a known problem for this community but I am fighting with it and cannot solve it.
We are on the way to redocument a huge Java Web Application. We have imported all the Java-Classes in the package java.
And in several more business oriented packages we are analysing and documenting the process flow using Sequence Diagrams and Activity Diagrams.
These diagrams are all referencing classes from the package java.

When we are now exporting the business packages and importing the XMI-Files on our different locations (a central repository is not possible as of security policies) the information in the diagrams about the linked classes and methods is not imported. The lifelines of the classes are visible, the method calls and names are gone.
I tried it with the normal Export/Import, I both tried XMI 1.1 and 2.1.
I tried it with "Merge package with XMI-File", the Baseline Comparator.

Always the same result: the linked information/object is not imported.
Is there a correct way of exporting and importing packages?

My environment is Enterprise Architect 13.0, Windows 10

Any help is appreciated.
