Bugs and Issues / Re: Import Visio Documents greyed out
« on: March 11, 2020, 07:26:05 pm »
Solved!

The version I had installed was from the MS Office MDG - which apparently is a trial version that required purchase (this was not clear when I downloaded this and it does not tell you the trial has expired...  ???).

However, there is a free (available at time if writing this), separate Visio importer, which imports up 2010 versions of Visio diagrams and I have got this working.

John

Hi All,

I have tried using the ribbon menu and selecting a target package as well as from a diagram and using the right-click menu but the options are still not available.

Any help appreciated.

John

Bugs and Issues / Import Visio Documents greyed out
« on: March 06, 2020, 10:10:53 pm »
Hi All,

I am using EA 15.1.1526 and have installed mdgoffice64 in order to import some Visio business process maps created by a partner.

When trying to do this, either from the project browser or from within a diagram, the import option is 'greyed out'.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the MDG but to no avail.

Can anyone provide any guidance?

Regards,
John

Bugs and Issues / Re: "Unspecified error" when opening an MYSQL repository
« on: November 28, 2019, 09:07:18 pm »
Hi All,

We are not having any luck I am afraid.

I can confirm a successful MySQL driver connection to the database, but still cannot get Sparx to use that connection to open the repository.

I have double/triple/quad-ripple checked the guide and I have tried to copy the connection string from my laptop to the other laptop but still receive the same error.

Guess I'll try raise a support ticket.

Regards,
John

Bugs and Issues / "Unspecified error" when opening an MYSQL repository
« on: November 22, 2019, 12:58:42 am »
Hi All,

We have an MySQL database setup and our model transferred to the database.

We are in the early adoption stage and another Architect and I can connect and open up the repository successfully and we have been using this for almost a month now.

We are trying to on-board another Architect, he is getting the above error.

We are using EA 15.0.1510 and the 32bit MySQL ODBC driver. When setting up the driver it connects successfully using the 'Test Connection' but the error occurs when configuring SparxEA to use this connection.

A brief search has indicated the use of the 64bit driver can cause this but I can confirm we are using the 32bit driver.

Any help appreciated.

John

Bugs and Issues / Re: Legend stops working
« on: September 12, 2019, 11:28:53 pm »
I think I have found the problem:

The naming convention for my custom tags was CUK:TAG, it seems EA truncates after the colon when I save and reopen a diagram. This is why is worked at first and then not after I have coded and re-opened the diagram.

Changing the naming convention to CUK-TAG has resolved this.

John

Bugs and Issues / Legend stops working
« on: September 12, 2019, 12:54:06 am »
Hi All,

I have been experimenting with Legends on a diagram to change the colour of elements base on a tagged value.

I can get the legend working, and can toggle to auto-colour on and off, but under some circumstances, this just stops work but I can't figure out why or what the state change was that stopped it working?

Has anyone else had this?

Regards,
John

Thanks Geert,

I also upgraded to the latest version which seems to handle this better.

When using the ArchiMate model, 'ApplicationComponent' is set as the Element Type when selecting the 'Archimate_Application Component' stereo type.

Under certain circumstances (such as when a an eaXL import is executed) the Element Type is changed to 'Component' but using the Type drop down there is no way to select 'ApplicationComponent'.

To work around this I have had to change the stereotype to anything else and then back to 'Archimate_Application Component'. (a bit of effort for a few hundred elements... or work out how to create a script for this).

Can 'ApplicationComponent' be set as a valid entry in the Type drop down and and other scripts to stop the import breaking it?

Regards,
John
