Suggestions and Requests / Add support for SAP HANA as EA repository DBMS
« on: October 20, 2020, 09:58:30 pm »
Hello!
I would like to suggest that SAP HANA is added as a supported repository database in Enterprise Architect. HANA is a enterprise-grade RDBMS, similar to Oracle DB and Microsoft SQL Server.
I know that the preferred DB for EA is SQL Server but HANA has a range of advantages over SQL Server, especially looking at the free versions. SQL Server Express comes with pretty harsh limitations (max 10GB DB size and just 1GB RAM). With SAP HANA Express Edition, the only limitation is in the amount of RAM it uses (max 32GB on Express), however the DB size is virtually unlimited. And of course it's free for commercial use. This could make HANA Express valuable for EA deployments where SQL Server Express isn't good enough.
The HANA Express Edition can be found here:
https://www.sap.com/cmp/td/sap-hana-express-edition.html
It would be great if Sparx could consider if HANA support could be added to EA.
Thanks!
