General Board / CSV Export/Import of tagged values of type memo
« on: March 27, 2013, 02:33:48 am »
I am trying to export and later re-import requirements with tagged values of type memo using the CSV export function with "Preserve Hierachy" enabled. The CSV export works OK and includes fields like TagNotes_attribute (in the CSV export specification I selected notes instead of value, since I am using a tagged value of type memo). Then I make some updates to the CVS file, and save it back. When trying to re-import the updated CSV file, the EA importer requests some type or profile definitions. Am I missing anything on the export and later re-import of tagged values of type memo?

General Board / CSV delta import of TVs to existing elements
« on: March 22, 2013, 11:17:26 pm »
I try to find out how I can add new tagged values to existing elements (in this case requirements) using the CSV import. Due to some limitations in the DOORS MDG link (truncation of tagged values to 255 characters) I try to add additional tagged values of type memo to the requirements. I created a CSV output from DOORS with the full text of the incomplete tagged values. Now I need to fill the new tagged values of type memo with the full text from the CSV file. Therefore I have to modify the CSV file in that way, that during the EA import the correct requirements are updated. I have a unique identifier in each requirement which I can use as the primary key to add the correct complete text to the correct requirement. Which notation do I have to use in the EA CSV import file to define the primary key?

Thanks for the hint - I have just created a bug report on this topic.

General Board / Import DOORS Attributes into EA Tagged Values
« on: January 08, 2013, 04:01:59 am »
I am importing requirements from DOORS into EA using the DOORS MDG Link. I have one specific issue with two DOORS attributes which contain in some cases long text. The MDG DOORS import creates the tagged value and tries to import the text. For text with more than 255 characters this raises a warning and the text is cut-off. Is there a way to use during the import a predefined tagged value of type "memo", which allows to hold text of more than 255 characters?

General Board / Import of ecore UML model into EA 9.3?
« on: December 07, 2012, 08:48:38 pm »
I need to import an UML model from ecore into EA 9.3.

I have tried to import the standard ecore export as XMI into EA 9.3, but this fails with the error message "unknown XMI Exporter or Version".

I have tried to import the UML converted export from ecore as XMI into EA 9.3 what also failed with the same error message.

Any idea what I can try?

General Board / Tagged Values in RTF Report without «stereotype»?
« on: June 03, 2012, 07:40:33 pm »
I am trying to create a RTF template to print a list of tagged values. This works so far that I have added a table in the RTF report in which I insert the tagged value using <insert field> <value of> and providing the tagged value name. The RTF report shows correctly the values of the tagged values, but unfortunately each value has as prefix the stereotype of the tagged value, e.g. «ReqApplicability» Subsystem, or  «VerificationMethod» Test. This overloads the RTF document with EA internal information.
Is there a way to turn-off this prefix and to show just the tagged value?

General Board / Re: Connectors in Sequence diagram not exp. in XMI
« on: June 07, 2010, 09:24:55 pm »
Thanks a lot for the quick response. Indeed, we are using links to objects in the sequence diagram. I have checked the properties of the linked objects and can see references to the sequence diagram.
When I export both packages - the package with the sequence diagram and the package with the linked objects - then I get the full sequence  diagram with all connectors (import sequence seems to be important: first the package with the linked object, then the package with the sequence diagram).
Now I understand how we can exchange sequence diagrams in our team - thanks again for helping us.

General Board / Connectors in Sequence diagram not exp. in XMI
« on: June 07, 2010, 07:12:23 pm »
I am trying to share sequence diagrams within a team using the package export/import via XMI format. Unfortunately, the sequence diagrams available after the import do only contain the elements, but no connectors (e.g. messages). Anyone an idea how to share sequence diagrams including connectors?

Bugs and Issues / Import DOORS Attributes into EA Tagged Values
« on: January 08, 2013, 07:53:41 pm »
I am importing requirements from DOORS into EA using the DOORS MDG Link. I am facing a problem with two DOORS attributes which contain in some cases long text. The mapping for the two attributes has been set to tagged value. The MDG DOORS import creates the tagged value and tries to import the text. For text with more than 255 characters this raises a warning and the text is cut-off. I know that it is possible to create tagged values of type=memo, which allow to hold text of more than 255 characters. The MDG import should either allow to specify to use a pre-defined tagged value for the import or should create automatically a tagged value compatible with the size of the attribute to be imported.

I experience a problem activating the MDG Office plug-in for EXCEL (MS Office 2010). When starting EXCEL I get a window to enter the license key. I enter my license key and the key is accepted by a message window "Registration succeeded!". But then another window pops up, that I do not have a full version of Enterprise Architect. However, I have a registered ultimate edition of Enterprise Architect.
When EXCEL comes up, the "Enterprise Architect" tab is missing. In MS Word, the tab is still there (from the trial version of MDG Office).
I tried to change, remove and re-install the MGB Office plug-in - no success.
