General Board / Re: Gap Analysis - Baseline and Target Packages
« on: August 12, 2014, 04:42:36 am »
What you're saying makes a lot of sense now. I guess I had my hopes a little too high on what I might be able to automatically achieve with gap analysis matrix.

Thanks.

General Board / Gap Analysis - Baseline and Target Packages
« on: August 07, 2014, 08:28:24 pm »
Hi,

I've been trying to better represent by baseline and target architectures in my EA projects.

The trouble I'm having is in quickly reporting on the differences between the states. Reading the Sparx documentation I see that the Gap Analysis feature could help me out.

Where an element exists in both baseline and target architecture I tend to duplicate the element. The Gap Analysis tool always seems to pick these elements up as new.

Is my understanding of the Gap Analysis tool incorrect?

Is there a better way of managing the situation where baseline elements existing in the target state? I wondered if by not duplicating elements I could make the situation better, sadly to no avail and also has an undesirable effect in replicating target associations in the baseline models!

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Ben.

General Board / Same Size Elements Between Diagrams EA 9

Hi,

Hoping someone can help me with an incredibly frustrating problem. I'd like to ensure that elements between two diagrams are equally sized - how is this achieved in EA 9?

Alternatively, is it possible to get/set an element in pixels?

Thanks,
Ben.

Uml Process / UML Deployment Diagram - Instance vs Class
« on: April 23, 2014, 12:51:06 am »
Hi,

Hoping someone can help with my UML/Sparx EA 10 question.

I have a deployment node class called Web Server, dragged into it is an artifact called webcode (to represent the web server code).

I am creating a deployment diagram of Web Server instances in my production environment. To achieve this I drag into a new deployment diagram the Web Server class and select "as instance of class".

None of my instances contain any reference to the embedded artifact webcode. Is there a way that my webcode artifact can be seen on this instance diagram?

I have read about the Run-Time State feature where I could specify specific attributes and set these at the instance level. I guess I could use that to show the relevant artifacts at the instance level.

Thanks for any advice!
