Hi again

Is it not wonderful what a bit of interaction does. Following input from David, I revisisted the error message in regard to system objects.

The solution to my problem is to UNCHECK Include System Objects; I mean why would we want those out of Access anyway.

So basically, and from Access 2000, use Tools, Options, to select Use of JET 4.0 so that the MDB file can be read; then exclude System Objects and voila.  Thanks for the input, David

I have tried the import from three recent versions of Access, which is how I eventually found the need to enable Jet 4.0; but by now each attempt lists the tables, so I assume the database is accessible and can be opened to a degree. The database was ODBC created out of InfoModeler (pre Visio) and I use an ODBC conncetion from EA. There is no security on the MDB file. Thinking it may have to do with how Informodeler generates the tables, I created a blank MDB file and then imported all tables into that. This is close to your suggestion.

All attempts create the same result by now. In fact, a work collegue tried the same near independently of myself and has the very same issue. I keep thinking the issue is just as the message says; ie no permission to read definitions - but I have no idea how to fix it within Access.

So if you or anyone else has further input on this, I would be very keen to get it.

Hi there

I am very new to Enterprise Architect and have soon found the solution to my first attempt at importing an Access 2000 design into EA; JET 4.0 enabling in Tools, Options. This was quick and painless.

Now I get the list of tables displayed but on Import get an error that says no read definitions permission for tables. My also limited knowledge of Access has lead me to the Securities dialogue. This shows all permissions ticked except the first one that says Open/Run; which is dimmed, so I cannot tick that.

Would this be my problem? Or does someone have some other useful input on this error message?

Input would be greatly appreciated.
