Sounds workable to me.

SPARX, let's have that!  :)

I agree that showing every derived relationship results is not desirable, however having the manually enter the derived relationships is laborious and time consuming.

Requesting they be shown and then hiding the ones you don't want to see (exactly with materialised relationships) would be ideal.

ArchiMate specifies the concept of Derived Relationships

https://modelingtheenterprise.wordpress.com/2013/04/09/archimate-derived-relations-part-2-the-rules-of-derivation/

These are very useful for understand how entities relate to each other in architectures involving a large number of entities that stretch over multiple diagrams.

This feature can be found in tools like Archi, but surprisingly aren't present in Enterprise Architect.

Are these on the roadmap for EA? If so, when are they expected, if not can they be added?

Which MDG are you referring to?

Suggestions and Requests / ArchiMate Nesting

Using Nesting in Archimate is a concise and aesthetically pleasing shorthand way of representing relationships between entities

http://pubs.opengroup.org/architecture/archimate2-doc/chap07.html

However the relationships aren't modelled in EA, instead the object simple comes 'in' the other object which has no meaning in ArchiMate.

Is the support for proper nesting relationships in ArchiMate on the roadmap for EA? If so, when are they expected, if not can they be added?

Already done :-)

ArchiMate has a clearly defined set of relationships between the entities which are considered 'valid', however EA's model validation doesn't actually check these.

Is the support for proper ArchiMate validation on the roadmap for EA? If so, when is it expected, if not can the requirement be added?

I experience the same problem, and am using Oracle's own ODBC driver.

Did you have any luck getting this to work?

Bugs and Issues / Internal Error 2324 -1073741701, C:\Windows\SysWOW
« on: September 29, 2015, 07:45:53 pm »
On Windows 7 SP1, when attempting to upgrade to EA 12 from 11 (specifically 11.1.1112), or uninstall EA 11, I get the following message

"Internal Error 2324 -1073741701, C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSJET35.DLL"

Has anyone had this issue or know how to resolve it?

Thanks.

Bugs and Issues / Perforce Integration
« on: December 23, 2011, 04:06:43 am »
Am having trouble getting EA to work with Perforce. When it presents the list of SCC Providers to be selected, none are shown.

How can I get it to acknowledge Perforce (2010.2)?
