It installed fine on Windows 7 Home Edition 64-bit, iCore 5, 6GB RAM and ran fine without any problems for a couple hours.

Is it possible you guys who are having problems are running in a corporate environment where the system admins have tinkered with the operating system for one reason or another and broke it? :-/

This happens whether we install the application on a workstation that is a member of a domain or a standalone system with no restrictions.

I am having the same problem.
When I launch the program I get the following error: "Enterprise Architect - UML Development Tool has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience."

However on Win7 i had to look in C:/users/johndoe/Appdata/Roaming/SparxSystems

Build was 905

maybe the next idea works!

You're right about the location of the user directory being different for Win 7. I'll edit the steps to include that.

I think I may have found a solution to the crash issue people are having with the new release.

To fix the problem try the following:
NB!!! These steps were tested on Windows XP only

1. Uninstall the application.
2. Delete the “Sparx Systems” directory from the Program Files folder e.g. c:\Program Files\Sparx Systems
3. Delete the “Sparx Systems” directory for the current user
e.g. on Windows XP delete C:\Documents and Settings\joeblogs\Application Data\Sparx Systems
and on Windows 7 delete c:\users\joeblogs\Appdata\Roaming\SparxSystems
4. Delete the following key in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sparx Systems
5. Restart the workstation
6. Install the new Version 9 software
7. Launch the program
8. Enter your license key (if using a fixed license)
9. You're good to go (if you're lucky)
