What are the rules for changing the author of an element ? Sometimes it does change when I edit something, sometimes it doesn't ...

While I think the search in EA is quite useful, it surprised me today, that it doesn't search in the alias field. Would it be complicated to add such a feature ?
And as our model is getting rather huge, I'd also be grateful for a search limited to a namespace or package ...

I've seen someone mourning about the ease of use of the options dialog in these forums. So I thought I'd try to come up with some ideas.
Especially in combination with the Diagram Appearance options, it gets rather frustrating :-).
A few suggestions, I wonder what others will have to say :
Break the options into several blocks, with less cryptic names. (one column of checkboxes would be highly appreciated). Probably a dialog like the one for element properties would be of better use ?
Don't mix "show" & "hide" on the Diagram Appearance. State that the bahaviour is also affected by a general option and vice -versa (the Alias usage is a good example, well done :-).
Allow for easy configuration sharing. (the nightmare when a new member of the team goes through the model without setting "Allow elongated use cases" on ..., or when another one wouldn't set the "Extend complexity" and the project calculations would be screwed up :-) ).
Allow for Diagram options copying ?
(ok, I have to admit, I am not a brave "clicker" :-) )

Hi,
we'd like to see the history - changes done on elements, with the date and person logged in.
(CVS doesn't solve the trouble)
Is there a plan of aadding this to EA ? If not, did anyone think of adding triggers to the repository on MS SQL ?

Hi Paolo,
In general, I think the stereotypes are updated from the profile, so I'd suppose this will happen for the connector, too.
But, bad news :-(. Apparently, the existing connectors won't take the color of the stereotype and the new connector you drag from the profile toolbox won't have the propper color set (default that is) - a problem elements had some time ago, hopefully this will be worked on too :-)

We tried but no success - I wonder whether this is possible and how :-).

yes thanks, i meant whether there is a way of filling up that combobox in diagram properties ...

i just found out that even though the combo in Configuration > stereotypes doesn't offer "diagram" as a base class, i can write it on my own and it works :-). Still not for the uml profile though.

did any of you succeed to setup diagram stereotypes ? We haven't. Via profile it did something else, and via configuration, there is no option for diagram ...

The fear is not about MS SQL not handling the data, it is rather about EA ... things such as project tree loading are simply getting slowier, and the question is whether one day they will be too slow, or rather when will that day come.
I am not sure whether there is other places where the entire or project is beeing read. Or any techniques that would help it load faster ?

General Board / maximal model size ?

Hi,
did anyone reach a model size that was too big to handle ? Currently we have about 12 000 rows in the t_object table (on MS SQL) and we are about to start two new subprojects. It would be nice to have them all together, but I am sligthly worried about the model size ...
Just now it works fine, only that it takes a while for the whole project to load.
I'll be thankful for any thoughts from others :-)

Hi Pascal,
we're quite successfull using MSDE's synchronization. A few changes of the structure and few scripts to set it up, and it works great.
All attempts on "real life" cvs and so have failed - it was too complicated, it took too long ...

General Board / generalization metaclass atributes

Hi, when I was creating an UML profile and added the "generalization" metaclass, it received 2 atributes automatically.
I can't find any info about them in the help. I would also like to add some other attributes but don't know which are avaliable.
Does anbybody have any idea ?
