Thanks for the responses.

So the only way I can create stereotypes I want is to go through the process of pre-defining them; i.e. one can no longer just type in a stereotype name on the fly?

General Board / Can't Edit Stereotype

This is embarrassing...  I've been experimenting with v15.1 and experiencing behavior I've not seen in prior versions.

I can't change type in a name for the stereotype!

I create a class diagram, drop a class on the view and then attempt to type in a stereotype name for the class and it won't let me.  What setting might be causing this?

And my apologies to Eve for excluding her comment that affirms the documentation might not be accurate.

It validates each user against active directory at every login. If the user isn't in the model, it is added to the model. If the user is not in any group linked to an EA security group then it won't let them in even if they were previously allowed.

Thank you, everyone, for your input.  I find it encouraging that v15.1 appears to exhibit the behaviors I was hoping to find.  I, too, find the experiences Geert has shared to contradict what is found on page 45 of the "Team Support" documentation (https://sparxsystems.com/resources/user-guides/15.1/modeling/team-support.pdf).  For now, I will trust Geert's experiences over that document and continue to monitor this thread.

Can someone please confirm I'm understanding the integration to Active Directory correctly, particularly as it relates to "Groups"?

It appears Sparx requires group assignments to be maintained inside of Sparx EA.  This implies it ignores group assignments that could be passed in through the Windows Authentication handshake; i.e. I can't simply maintain groups in AD and pass those across to Sparx without having to maintain the group assignments on both sides?

Sorry for the late reply, Paolo.

My experience has shown that the entire matrix fit onto a single page to an extent that it was unreadable; even when zooming in on the resulting .rtf / .doc generated.  What it would do on a really, really, really large matrix...I can't say.

They size nicely. Massive matrices, although fitting on the page, can yield text so small as to be unreadable.

Late discovery - easily implemented, approach is to include the "Relationship Matrix" in the "Package" section.  That prints out a "Matrix Specification" quite nicely.

Thank you, Geert.

Thank you all for your responses to this question.  It's appreciated.

Geert, would it be possible for you to share the SQL you include in your SQL Fragment?

Regards...Jim

Is it possible to include a Relationship Matrix when generating documentation for a model?  As they appear to be dynamically generated and printable only from within the "Options|Matrix", I'm assuming they cannot be part of any model documentation generated.  Am I correct in that understanding?

Thanks...Jim

General Board / Cloud Services Installation and Config Guide
« on: October 01, 2014, 01:34:49 am »
Does anyone know where I can find DETAILED instructions on how I go about downloading, installing, and configuring the Cloud Services components?

Specifically, I find the "Setting Up the Cloud Server" topic on EA help and it says that the installer should be run as administrator.  Do they mean that I am to run the "easetupfull.exe" on the server, or is there a different installation program?  Am I supposed to run on an IIS server?

Thanks in advance...Jim

General Board / Re: Undoing Component Instance
« on: January 23, 2014, 01:41:22 am »
Thanks for the information.  Unfortunately, I could no longer find the component from which the instance had been derived, which made this so odd.

Between the time when I posted the question on this and receiving your very prompt responses, I had gone in and created a new component to replace the old and went thru all of the diagrams to do the swap.

I will attempt to re-create and lay out the steps for further discussion, here, as soon as my workload allows.

Thanks so much for the links, as I am reading thru them, as well.

Regards...Jim

General Board / Undoing Component Instance
« on: January 21, 2014, 06:20:03 am »
While drawing an association from a component to a component instance, I was prompted with a dialog I wasn't familiar with; "Choose an Association Connector".  I could choose <anonymous> or <none>.  I choose <anonymous>, to my misfortune.  Now the source component was changed to a "component instance" with no ability to UNDO.  How do I convert it back to being a simple "public component"?
