I have just noticed this thread.  The facility is something that I have needed as well, its good to see it was already there.

However, regarding visibility, is there any way to indicate on a diagram, or to see in a dialog for an element that it does actually have some maintenance/changes recorded against it?

Or is it only 'visible' if one keeps the maintenance window open for everything?

John

Thanks, I didn't know that.

Yes, I would like to see that as an option.
At present, I have to remember to go to each diagram that the elements appear on and then hide the new relationship if it's not relevant to that diagram.

Hi
thanks for the answers.

1
re graphic elements on a diagram - I wanted to be able to put some markers, like a line or an arrow or other symbol or scribbly thing, on a diagram to draw attention to some aspects of the diagram.  So text notes appears to be the only way to do it. then.  (Id rather not co-opt 'real' elements for the purpose, as that would clutter up the browser, be listed in reports and so on.)

So, it seems then that the superclass (or superclasses if using multiple inheritance) is always displayed.  It would be useful if there were an option to turn it on or off, and perhaps per diagram.

I have about 200 classes, and about 15 diagrams to explain different aspects of the model, instead of one or two large but unfathomable (and unprintable)  diagrams.  Any element might appear on several diagrams.  In a model report that lists the definitions and the associations of each element, it would be useful to also list the names of all diagrams that the element appears on, so that the reader can easily look back at the diagrams to understand its participations in various aspects.

thanks,
John

General Board / three diagram questions
« on: April 20, 2009, 11:13:02 pm »
Hi all,

I have a couple of questions that I can't find answers for:

1. Can I add graphic objects to a class diagram, eg just lines or circles that are not elements?
2. When I add an element to a diagram, if it has a superclass its superclass is shown at the top right just above the element name. Can I suppress the display of the superclass's name?
3.  This is really a report question... When elements are listed in a report, is there a way to list for each element the diagrams that the element appears in.  I can't see this anywhere in the basic templates.

thanks,
John
