General Board / List of UML Diagrams by Name and Type
« on: August 28, 2006, 02:11:56 pm »
I would like to produce a simple list of the diagrams in EA with two columns -  the name of the diagram and uml/sparx type of diagram.  For example:  Customer Data Model, Class; Process Orders, Activity.  I have tried the Diagrams only report, and XMI export and I can't seem to produce just a simple list.   The RTF will generate a list of names, but it puts each name on a separate page.
Ideas?  thanks, Kathy

General Board / Want to bring 'objects' from project a to b
« on: April 20, 2006, 10:26:05 am »
I have a project 'a' that manages an existing application.
I have project 'b' that is going to manage the 'future state' vision for that application.  I created a 'conceptual' activity diagram in project 'a' - high level - that has activities, data stores, events, etc.
My Question - is there a way to 'import' (copy) the conceptual objects from the project 'a' activity diagram into project 'b' ?  I don't want to have to retype everything.  I tried copy and paste and that doesn't work.   I don't want the existing app 'a' and new architecture for app 'b'  in the same project.
thanks, kathy

General Board / WOW - I am so impressed with EA
« on: March 28, 2006, 06:56:20 am »
We have been evaluating EA, of course in the midst of trying to keep projects moving forward.  I am a data architect and have worked with many IE/ER case tools over the years.   I just created a report based on a data model.  Very cool - imbedded diagrams and all.   :) :) :)

General Board / Re: table foreign key does not auto migrate?
« on: March 10, 2006, 11:24:40 am »
Thomas - RTFM?  read the feature manual?   prior to posting, I did read the help topic for FK and tried to figure out how to do it.  From the help topic, it looks like you have to enter the field in both tables - source and target.  If there is a topic I am missing, please point the way.
thank you.

General Board / table foreign key does not auto migrate?
« on: March 10, 2006, 07:31:25 am »
I am new to UML and also EA.  I am developing a physical model using tables in a data diagram.  I expected the FK definition of an association to automatically migrate the FK (such as in ERWIN).  But it seems that you have to type the FK into the target table and then assoc source and target columns to define the target col as a FK.
Is there a way to automatically migrate a PK to a source table as the FK???
thanks,
KL
