General Board / Including exiting docs in virtual generated docs
« on: September 03, 2008, 05:33:17 am »
I'm trying to include existing doc sections in the master virtual doc. I can do this for the front Intro sections, first three sections. However, I need to put an existing section in the middle of the virtual docs, but its always putting it in the first section. How can I get E.A. to put this in the middle of the virtual doc? I have 6 model docs, and want to put an artifact doc after the first three, but its putting it in front of the six model docs.

Has anyone been able to do this?

Thanks for your help!
Kevin

General Board / Requirements doc generation - conditional building
« on: September 03, 2008, 05:30:48 am »
In our generated documents using templates, we have requirements listed in the model, which are not true requirements and are indicated by a tag. However, when we generate a traceability matrix using templates, we only want to show true requirements. Is there a way to check tags to determine whether the requirement should be generated in the trace matrix. I think what I'm asking for is conditional statements (IF) in the documented templates. So, when I generate a doc, each requirement tag is checked.

General Board / Mapping Requirements to Class Operations
« on: August 21, 2008, 03:23:16 am »
Hi,

It has been dictated by our customer that we must map requirements to classes operations. It appears that you can not do this in E.A. The requirements tab appears in properties for classes, but not for operations.

The only way I have found to do this is to drap and drop operations to a diagram. This creates an action of the operation. Next,  drag and drop the requirement to the new action.

This way of doing it has a few problems:
1) The name of the action does not following the operations, in otherwords, if you change the name of the operation, it is not reflected in the action.
2) In generating the Relationship matrix, we need the class name and action name to appear in the table. However, what appears in the action name and package name.

Is there a better way to do this mapping. I have created a "registed user bug report for this issue".

General Board / Virtual Documents - Use Existing Word doc
« on: August 22, 2008, 02:07:51 am »
Hi,

I have read the E.A. doc and tried examples, but I have not been able to figure this out. I want to use Virtual Docs. The first section of the doc is an exisiting RFT doc external to E.A. The other sections are packages in E.A.

So, when I generate a RTF report, how do I get E.A. to include the first section, which is an external doc?

Thanks for your help,
Kevin

Bugs and Issues / Re: Version control - lost relations
« on: August 21, 2008, 02:15:05 am »
We are having this exact same issue as well. It's a real pain because we must find and re-enter this lost relationships. This is impacting our productivity in our group. I have generated a "registered user bug report". However, the reply from Sparxsystems, says it can't be reproduced. However, it looks like a lot of us are having this issue.

I will raise this up our management chain to push Sparxsystems to fix this issue.
