I haven't got settings>database types in my version (9.3.933).  I do have settings>database datatypes; however this seems to be to set the datatypes for an existing database setting.  In any case, the default is set to 2008.  Unfortunately I still get the same error.

>>What make you conclude you can't create a ddl for SQL Server 2008?

When I try to do this (right-click on table class>generate DLL I get an error message saying 'database not defined'.

However, EA does know the location of my database, and the fact that it is SQL Server 2008, since it was able to use this to create the class tables in the first place.

Please let me know if there is anything else that I need to be doing.  Thanks!

It seems to be possible to create classes from 2008 code but not to synchronise it or create DLL scripts.

Given that SQL Server 2008 has been out for four years now it would be good if this could be fixed.

Thanks!

Suggestions and Requests / ColdFusion profile
« on: July 07, 2012, 04:57:03 am »
It would be enormously helpful to have a profile for ColdFusion.  There is one here:

https://github.com/lmajano/EA-ColdFusion-CodeGeneration

I haven't managed to get this to work yet: I suspect that the XML just needs some tinkering with.  Perhaps Sparx Systems could ask permission to include it in EA.

Thanks!

>>Look under the index entry Red, and Letter A is one of the sub-entries.
The other main entry is Letter A, with a sub-entry Red.

When I search for 'red' I get a full page of entries. There are no sub-entries marked 'letter A'.

>>Can you select the lines?

I have discovered that they are print lines, which can easily be removed.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help.

I have looked at the pages of linked documents, and the explanation is clear.  However, when I search for 'red letter A' or 'A letter red' they don't come up.

Any thoughts on what the purple lines might be?  (They are not grid lines; or, at least, they don't disappear when grid lines are turned off.)

I have a vertical and horizontal purple line on one of my diagrams, and red a capital 'A' in one of my elements.  Are these bugs, or do they mean something?  It would be good if they could either be removed (if they are bugs) or documented (if they are features)!

Thanks for your help.

...given that the overwhelming majority of search tools (including Google, most software 'help' features and the Sparks system) don't use regular expressions that must make your life quite difficult.

Thanks very much for your help.

With regards the margins: might it be possible at some stage to at least eliminate the grey area, which won't be printed?  Or at least to increase the font size?  The main 'help' pages have a tiny font, even though most of the space is blank.  I have 24" professional monitors but am still struggling to see the text.

I understand the need to cater for the American market.  However, don't forget that British/Australian spelling is standard throughout India, Africa, Canada and most of the EU.

The "Learning Center' section is useful.  However, the pages are displayed with a large border, and have another border within that.  This means that the text is quite difficult to read.  Since these borders are entirely pointless, could we have a way to remove them so that the text fills the whole of the central part of the screen?

Second, given that this is an Australian program, could we have 'centre' spelled correctly rather than the American way?

Thanks very much for your help.

>>Now you're talking about Win32 MDG screen - you did not mention that so far!

I'm sorry.

>>However, I tried it with elements from that toolbox too and still no problem.

I am wondering if the bug is caused by the installer program not clearing up the older version of EA 9.3 properly and then EA 10 using old versions of the MDG.  In any case, I doubt that the problem is caused by anything exterior to EA.

Anyway.  Thanks for your help.

I spoke too soon.  With everything else but the Win32 and the basic MDGs uninstalled I still get the bug.  Since I need the Win32 interface I will go back to the stable version of EA (9.3).

You may be onto something.

I have a new project with all the MDGs disabled apart from the Win32 interface (which I need to get the button to reproduce the bug).  In this situation the buttons work fine.  As soon as I reselect the MDGs the buttons start moving about when I add new buttons to the screen.  Unfortunately, I don't have the time to select each one individually in order to work out which one(s) is or are causing the problem.  I will try running it with a minimum of MDGs to see if that works.

Thanks for your help.

I have tested it again on a much simpler diagram: it happens constantly.  The buttons move down to the bottom of the screen or else the 'picture content' elements move down or else everything moves together.  I have no idea why you can't replicate it.

In any case, I will go back to the last stable version of the program, which was 9.3.  I'm not going to spend hours trying to persuade the developers at EA to take the issue seriously.

Thanks very much for your help.
