Tools | Options | Diagram | Appearance in the help file seems to be missing. Is this an omission or dont we need to know?
I was particularly interested in what difference if any the RENDERER button made.

Basic includes no smoothing. The two enhanced use slightly different smoothing.

The easiest way to explain is by example.

Create a diagram with the following:
Activity, Decision Diamond, Use Case and a control flow running diagonally.

Open the options dialog and move it to the side so you can see your diagram.

Change to basic - There is no smoothing, any curve or diagonal is pixely.
Change to enhanced 1 - Smoothing is on. Look closely at the activity. There is a very faint line above the rect, but the line looks fairly consistent around the entire shape.
Change to enhanced 2 - My diagonal lines appears thinner, on the activity has a completely solid line on the edges, but gets "fuzzy" on the corners.

In the end it's largely personal preference distinguishing between the two enhanced renderers, with the difference being quite subtle.
