Back to default layout
« on: August 17, 2007, 09:13:18 am »
I was experimenting with resizing the Project Browser and ended up with it floating and now that it is docked again it takes up the entire right panel instead of having Project and Resources on tabs on the bottom and several others on tabs on the bottom half.  I find reference in the help to doing this if one wants to, but not how to get it back to the way it was originally.  How do I get back?

You can dock the other windows that were previously taking up the lower half onto the bottom half of the project browser.

A tip for docking.  I find it easiest to change to 2005 window style for docking purposes as this allows you to see all the options for where to dock a window.  You can do this by selecting View | Visual Style | 2005 from the main menu.

Sorry, but I'm not seeing how to dock on the lower half .. whether in 2005 or 2007.  If I float one and move it to about the right position and then go back to dock, it just takes up the whole frame.

Thomas,

If I am correct in my assumption that you are trying to go back to default layout then to do this you go to View -> Visual Layouts and click on Default Layout (even though it might be checked already). I HTH!

Thanks ... that worked, albeit in a fashion similar to driving a carpet tack with a sledgehammer!

The trick to placing the windows in a certain position is to use the "window indicators" (by lack of a better word) that appear when you pick up a window. There should be 8 or 9 of those things, 4 for the outmost left/right/top/bottom, and 5 depending on the window you are hovering over. These 5 are used to place your window left/right/top/bottom/over that window.
To get your configuration exactly how you want it, it might take some time messing about with the windows, in the correct order.
