Attributes of Nodes in Deployment Model:  EAE
« on: January 19, 2008, 03:54:29 pm »
In the EAExample provided with 7.0 (build 818), the Deployment/HQ Servers diagram includes node instances for the PowerEdge 2650 and others.  Depicted in the PowerEdge 2650 are what appear to be attributes (e.g., Disk Controller = RAID 5; Disks = 4X80GB; etc.)  Now here's the question (and the problem)--

I have *NO CLUE* how to access these items.  No, they do not appear to be attributes in the Deployment/Nodes/ Computer/Servers/Dell Poweredge 2650 attribute list.  Right clicking the Node instance does not yeild any access to these items.

I surely would like to know where these 'items' came from, how to add others, how to specify specific values for the node instances, etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

to find the classifier of an instance just right click on the object ->find->classifier and it will open it project browser.
Recursion definition:
If you don’t understand the definition read "Recursion definition".

Martin,

I can find the Node Instance in the project browser.  No problem.  My *problem* is that the node instance contains instance attribute values that that I can not find **anyplace**.  Your suggestion -- the right-click in the Node Instance -> Find -> Locate Classifier in Project Browser -- results in navigating to the Node (not the node instance), and I can see the attributes that Ken Nielsen added to each of the Nodes.  But where, and how, do I get to the Instance Attribute Values??

I still can't find where Ken Nielsen, the apparent author of the example, added the instance attribute values.  Take a look at the EASAMPLE.eap that ships w/EA and tell me how you can get to these values.

Thanks,
Victor

Victor,

Look up Run State in the documentation. Perhaps that's what you are thinking of.

No, you can't have it!

David,

Thanks!  It is, indeed, a Run-time State value, and I found the secret keystrokes to open the pane for adding/updating/displaying instance values (i.e., Right-click Instance -> cntl-Shft-R-> select attribute from drop-down list)

Thanks again!
