Initialize the "Author" field

We have several people authoring one model (using the Replication feature).

We want to know who authored which elements in the model.

People often forget to initialize the "Author" field when they create a new element (i.e. to select themselves from the drop-down list of authors).

The new feature I'm requesting is that the software be able to automatically specify e.g. me as being author of all new UML elements which I create on my machine.

The author field is initialised with the setting in Tools->Options->General->Author.

What are the rules for changing the author of an element ? Sometimes it does change when I edit something, sometimes it doesn't ...

Maybe you should give a reproducable example and report it as bug. In my opinion the author should be set only at creation time, since it's reading "author", not "editor".

I'm with you Thomas.  The Author/Creator should (only) be set at creation time, Last Editor/Changer should be set each time there is a change.  While we're at it, the CreatedDate and ModifiedDate from t_object should be rendered on to the General Tab.
