Behavior textbox needs to be bigger or resizeable.
« on: July 21, 2006, 10:48:20 am »
One of my pet peeves for some time now has been how small the behavior textbox is. I have a client that wants me to write descriptive behaviors for each operation.
Currently, I find it almost impossible to work in the behavior textbox. I usually cut and paste into my favorite text editor.

Initial Code textbox is huge and resizes. Could there be a splitter effect so if I am working on behaviors I can make the behavior box bigger and the opposite if I want to work with initial code.

Even better: could we have a way to use a real editor (something like notepad++ or the like) when working in both boxes.

Much even better: not only this both boxes, but all similar boxes (notes, scenarios,...).

P.S. I cannot get used to linked documents

Also me too. Somewhere else I already stated that this linked document feature looks like something half cooked.

TK, I've got to disagree here.  To me it looks like a mighty fine hammer, so if you try to knit socks with it, it wont work.

What I'm trying to say is that its a great tool for manually creating standalone documentation specific to a particular element as an adjunct to "normal"  :-/ EA modelling activities.  It does not provide in any way, shape or form, what we have been wanting for months years in terms of a useable element annotation editor.

:o Let me try a little louder.  ARE YOU LISTENING YET SPARXIANS,  WE WANT FORMATTABLE NOTES FIELDS.

Hi Bruce,
I didn't say it's not tasty. Just half cooked. There are many good ideas around, but it lacks also some obvious things (e.g. hard to find if you use it, search does not respect it). Stil waiting for 6.5 to see major improvements even here.

Regrading the rest of your post: YES, YES, YES!

Thomas,

Advanced Search does support behaviour...  Granted, it isn't easy to find, but it IS there...  Use Find [Ctrl+F] from the Edit menu - which isn't the same as Search Project View [Ctrl+Shift+F].  Then press the Advanced button and create your own search strategy...

I thought he was talking about linked documents, not behaviour.

Wow! I didn't think I was going to start such a heated debate over so many areas. All I wanted was improvements to the ability to enter behaviors for operations.

But, to agree with the above, one of the things I too have been anxious to see is a richer means of entering text.

However, there are a number of other things on my wish list, as well. I think I will save those for another thread.

As Simon did say: I meant linked documents
