Linked Diagram - packages
« on: October 24, 2006, 12:09:59 am »
Among the many things you CAN'T do with a package is link it to a diagram in the same way as any other element...  That is, via the ill-named Composite Element menu option.

This means that the ONLY diagram you can link a package to is the one immediately under the package AT THE TIME!

This is not good.  It would be far more consistent to allow the package to link in the same way as everything else. That way, the modeller can choose which package to link to on double-click. And the link would be retained regardless of diagram order (just like all the other elements)

Yes, a very good idea.

And it's one that is likely to affect a large user segment. Anyone who sets the option to open a diagram on double-clicking a package in the Project View - such as myself - would end up with a more predictable environment.

No, you can't have it!

Actually, I'd prefer that Sparx fixed the previously mentioned problem regarding letting us pick which diagram is opened for a composite element and then (and then...)  "allow the package to link in the same way as everything else"

Apart from that I agree with the suggestion.

Bruce is quite right IMO.

However, while we wait for the real solution it would be nice if we could treat packages the same way as other "composite" items. With any luck at all this might be a 'quick fix' that Sparx could fit into a minor build (he hints...).

I agree with Bruce, and eagerly awaiting the build which this is included in.
