EA and Models
« on: October 18, 2007, 11:20:14 am »
I wish we could have some models giving details on how to set up EA for a beginner who is just getting started with EA. It could be nice to follow an activity diagram or a use case diagram to get set up with EA for Requirements or Architecture.

Does anyone have something that can be used to show how to get set up with EA to write Technical/functional requirements in terms of an activity diagram or use case? It could be nice to have something that could give step wise instructions for things like connecting to CVS or setting up the dB instance for Team based development etc.

I am working on making something like this and could load that information here in a couple of weeks unless someone already has this.

What an interesting idea!

I don't think I've seen anything quite like this. You might want to look at the white papers on the Sparx site, but they won't address everything you want. Still, you'd have to translate these into your diagrams; I have not heard of anyone else doing so.

If you do create something, consider posting the results to the EA Wiki. To find the coordinates open the top thread of the Automation section - this particular thread is 'sticky' so it is always the first one. Look at the bottom - the signature section - of the top post.

No, you can't have it!

Do you know about the EAExample model? It's in the install directory of your copy of EA.

Thanks for your responses.

I have looked into the EAExample and it is good. But what I am looking for is a model that will help me get my team members set up with EA for a team contribution to the Technical Requirements and Architecture Designs. So things like setting up CVS, Oracle connectivity, and giving a guide on good practices etc., to start on the TRs could be included in an easy to follow model.

I know these can be found in various documents on the net, but having that in an easy to follow model/diagram would only help in easy set up of EA. Just my $0.02  :)
