Traceability
« on: November 16, 2010, 08:35:10 am »
The traceability view shows links between model elements. (See help text below.)

That is; it shows all relationship links for elements within the selected container (package, diagram, etc) with the exception of; Trace links.

A traceabbility view that shows everything except - traceability - hmm.

Also, when selecting the links to display why does 1 have to keep hitting the selected container in order to refresh? By selecting a link to display is telling the tool to refresh - shirley!

Les.

The Traceability window shows a mini picture of the composition of the current element with respect to other elements.

This information is derived from relationships with child or related Classes. Relationships shown in the hierarchy include Aggregation, Inheritance and Dependency; embedded elements are also shown. This helps extend the picture of where an element exists in the model space.

Display of each type of relationship is optional, and can be toggled using the window toolbar.

While on the subject of traceability, in the relationship matrix when displaying traceability links (actually this function works for all links), we need the ability to mark the link as suspect - in the matrix.

What would be really nice is if EA automatically did this for us, by recognizing that an element in the matrix has changed since the link was last edited.

Recommend:
  • allowing users to set the trace link to 'red' 'suspect' attribute
  • allowing users to set the trace link to green 'verified' attribute
  • recognize that one of the elements in the trace link has changed since the trace link was last edited and automatically set its status to 'suspect'.

A trace is a stereotyped dependency and will show up in the Traceability window as "depends on" (or "needed by" from the other direction).

I agree all of this would be nice - have you raised a feature/enhancement request ?
