Better visualize relationships
« on: February 11, 2015, 07:57:05 am »
I wanted to trace the dependency of some data elements where one could select an object and visually see the source of that object.
This could be acheived by adding to the "Context filtering" to where it would trace relationships greater than one degree of seperation.
For example, if Buick belongs to Cars, and Cars belongs to Transportation, one could click on Buick, and Cars would be highlighted, as well as Transportation.

Else, a visualizer like Archie, that lets you interactively explore the relationships between objects could accomplish this as well.

That would be useful yes, although it assumes that the source is on the diagram in question.  In short, the number of levels available to trace in this way would depend on what is on the diagram.

Possible workarounds are :
1) create another diagram temporarily, add the element you're interested in and then "insert related elements" to as many levels as you want.
2) have the traceability window open.  As you click on an element, all its relationships should appear.
