Activity Diagram: Unable to link decision with req
« on: March 19, 2011, 01:36:08 am »
Hi,
I can not file a bug, using the bug report because I use a floating license of EA and I really do not know if anyone is registered...

But nevertheless I have to report a bug (from my point of view).

Description:
It is not possible to link a decision element with a requirement element in an activity diagram.

How it should be:
A realization link should be established between a decision and a requirement element.  It is possible in general, as described below in the Workaround section.

Workaround:
A new requirement can be added to the decision element in its Properties dialog, tab "Requirements".  If the requirement is saved, clicking the "Move External" button creates a new requirement.  I can use this new requirement in the Activity diagram and the decision and activity elements are linked as expected using a Realization link.

Restriction of the workaround:
This is a poor workaround because a requirement is defined earlier than a decision element in any diagram...   :(  The workaround creates another requirement which has nothing to do with the one I originally wanted to link with the decision.

I hope that this information is sufficient and would like to hear if the bug is accepted and perhaps when it will be solved...

With best regards
Eddie

Hi Eddie,

well I can't confirm this, at least in build 8.0.864 it works as expected:

Open the activity diagram.
Locate the requirement in the browser.
Drag'n'drop the req onto the decision element on the diagram.

Verify the link in the relationships window or by viewing the properties.
