Creating/accessing linked docs via COM?
« on: May 15, 2006, 03:12:46 am »
Hello,

I try to import requirements from a word doc into EA and would like to pass some items (pics, tables, etc.)  to the linked document of an element.

Up to now I didn't found a way to achieve this. Neither the code samples nor the help give a clue about this. ???

How can this be accomplished?

Thanks for suggestions

Kind regards,
Oliver

Are you using the EA default editor for linked documents? If so, check this post:
http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=general;action=display;num=1147263376;start=2#2

I was unaware of this - thanks again Simon - but perhaps it is what you need. Otherwise I don't know what to do to import specific items into an EA model from an external file.

EDIT:
Without writing an automation program or add-in that is. I have little problem with doing one of those, but I'm not sure that's what you are talking about. Or is it?
END EDIT

Sorry, it seems that I missed some important details. :-(

I like to fetch RTF data from an word document and pass it to EA via the COM-Automation interface.

I found no attribute or operation where I can put my RTF data into an EA model element.

Kind regards,
Olli

No Olli you cannot,

This has been requested - or at least the ability to have the Notes for an element in RTF format. No traction at Sparx as far as I know.
