What is a virtual document?
« on: November 02, 2009, 09:09:42 am »
http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/uml_tool_guide/reporting_in_enterprise_architect/virtualdocuments.html

I have seen the term "Virtual document" bandied around.

After reading the documentation it seem like "virtual document" is a term for either a "model document" or a "master document", or is it a "RTF document".

If this is the case I'd suggest that the term is confusing and should be dropped, sicne IMHO it serves to obfusticate rather than inform and clarify.

A virtual document is a document made up of several model documents encapsulated in a master documentl.
Each model document is either the result of a search or represents a package.

That is it. I never felt confused about the terms and in fact I got used to the terms rather quickly as I felt those being straight forward.

Thanks, so in summary a virtual document is the same as a master document.
