just one more disappointment with RTF documents
« on: October 11, 2008, 12:29:44 am »
I'm now at the end of my tether and would like to know what other's do.

Having created a Use Case model to correspond to the corporate Requirements Specification, I have set up a documentation package containing a Master Document with each section as its own Model Document with its own template, based (imported) on a copy of the standard corporate template.

I duly produced the master document and then added into the Functional Specfication master document (Intro, Distribution, Executive Summary, TOC) using the Insert File Link.

All looked well so I saved the document and distributed it to the Stakeholders for review.

About an hour later I get a call from one stakeholder saying its not very easy to add comments becasue as soon as he highlights the required bit he want to comment on the whole document gets highlighted and the comment ends up at the bottom of the document.

I can't seem to reproduce this - using the standard Master template and generating it with sub-reports the results allow comments in Word where ever the cursor is placed (except on the exterior of a table).
I would suggest you send through a copy of this to the support email for reveiw.

Try to set the "Overwrite document fields" checkbox when generating the document. This will not generate fields in the document but plain text which I believe is the annoying part here.
