References/Links from rtf documents to model
« on: July 13, 2006, 03:18:03 am »
Hi...

During the process of modelling we create some documents which describe our model from different points of view. For that we use custom diagrams and putting some Document Artifacts in it.
In the underlying rtf documents there is often the necessity to show diagrams which we are specifying. It would be a nice feature if EA would provide a possibility to insert direct references into the model.

You can generate documentation of your diagram, insert generated file in your document.
Refreshing is a two-step process. Firstly regenerate from EA your documentation, than refresh links in your document.

I don't know about direct references in EA, anyone else does? I'm interested.

Thats the way I do it... But there is a big problem:
You put a link in your document and close it.
Later you reopen the document again and, for what reason ever, the linked file is missing. If you now modify the document (e.g. typing a character) and close it, all broken links in the document will be lost for ever! :'(. Thats why a think a direct reference into the model would be much better....
