Feedback: Documentation out of date
« on: November 28, 2006, 09:20:53 pm »
I have downloaded the trial version of enterprise architect along with the documentation. I must say I am very impressed with all the features that have been provided but the major difficulty in usage is the out of date documentation. For example, in Modeling with UML -> Working with UML Elements -> Common Element Tasks -> Creating Notes and Text, the documentation says:

1. Right click on the background of a diagram to open the context menu.

2. From the Insert Element at Cursor submenu, select Note. The Notes window appears.

But the right click menu doesn't have any 'Insert Element at Cursor' submenu!!!! Instead it is called 'Create Element or Connector'. There are MANY such instances throughout the documentation. Can you kindly update the documentation? In selecting a CASE tool for our company, we evaluate many features. Although we are givng 'Enterprise Architect' an excellent rating, due to lack of proper documentation, we might decide to use some other tool. It would be a big disappointment for me at a personal level because I really like EA because of its rich feature set.

Hi codehacker,

This forum is an up-to-date extension/replacement for the documentation.  In my experience it is one of the most helpful and knowledgeable product forums I've seen.  So don't forget to include that in your evaluation!

Sparx are, hopefully, working on the documentation and the user interface (since if the product works intuitively, you don't need to ask the help system :)).

If you have any questions, try the search first and then ask away!
