Visio Importer Problem
« on: February 06, 2010, 04:47:48 am »
I just tried the importer and have a problem with it. The import completes, but there is an error. All the classes and association import but there are no names included.

The error is something like:

Error:
Code = 0xc00ce016
Source = Line : 3; Char : 26
URL: file:///C:/Program%20Files/Sparx%20Systems/EA/uml.dtd
Error Description = Attribute 'xml.version' has a value which does not match the fixed value defined in the DTD/Schema.

Any help would be great.

Hi,

What version of EA and the Visio Importer are you using?

What kind of a diagram arer youtrying to import?

I have no idea why it would be referencing the UML.dtd file...

I haven't had any problems with the new Visio Importer (which supports Visio 2007).

I am using Visio 2007 (12.0.6423.1000 SP2). I downloaded the Importer today. It is version 1.5.6.

Someone gave me a complicated Visio model so I tred that. When it gave this error, I then built a simple version in Vision with two classes and one association.

My guess is the converter is doing some sort of XMI conversion. Any more thoughts? Thanks.

OK... Send an email direct to Sparx, and ask them for the Visio Add-in v1.6.8  This is a pre-release that fixed some problems that we had with Visio 2007.

We expect it to be formally released with v8.

In the mean time, you should try just creating two rectangles and a line in Visio.  Basically, the Visio importer just looks at shapes and lines.  Consequently, you can import a diagram in many ways.  See if importing as a component diagram (for example) behaves any differently.

HTH,
