Moving elements around

Hi,
from my Mac I learned to love a few neat things. One is the "Hover / Wait / System opens the Tab" function. It works like that: you drag an element and move it over a tab or something link-like. If you rest for a short moment (half a second) over the link, the system opens this link automatically and you can move your element onto the new window (possibly continuing recursively this way). In EA it would be nice if I could drag an element (from the browser) onto a (closed) diagram tab. If I rest there shortly the diagram would open so I can drop the element.

Yes, excellent idea. And nifty too!

Of course we depend on the Windows interface to support this.

There is a likely parallel, which you can experience sometimes. If you drag some objects from an application onto a tab in your Windows desktop toolbar, depending on the application involved, Windows may cause the application to open and receive a 'drop.' Even if the application is not able to receive the item (something like Notepad which is still a bit old world for this), Windows sometimes comes up with a dialog telling you to open the application - so there is some kind of detection going on here.

I don't know if this functionality is available for the tabbed controls Sparx used for EA, whether supplied by MS, custom built, third-party. This is likely a deciding factor.

No, you can't have it!

I might be wrong, but the Shortcut Bar near the Windows Start acts similarly. Maybe that's the place where Apple stole it from MS developer's desktop ;D

If it improves the User Experience, let's have more of this cross-theft!

Your suggestion gets my vote, Thomas...
