Upgrading from v12 to 13 - anything to do on the database side?
« on: January 09, 2017, 08:33:00 am »
We're running v12.1.1229 and want to upgrade to v13.0.1309.

What's the process for the back end, if any?  Do we just install the new client and then users upgrade their projects?  Or, do we need to run a database upgrade script, and where would that script be found?

I'm guessing since I can't find any doco on the site regarding this, that it's very straight forward, but I wanted to check.

thanks!

You are right. There's nothing to do except replacing the clients. There also shouldn't be an issue with running mixed V13/V12 and even former clients. ICR when exactly the last significant DB-relevant has been made (9.3 to 10?)  where just some enumeration had been changed. So even that was no issue for most EA users.

Hi,

You can find a SQL script to run on your DBMS here: http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/resources/corporate/.
It will not change your data but it has an updated indexes definition which will improve performance on specific cases. According to Sparx, it can also be used in previous versions of EA (so it'll work if you still have EA12 or earlier installed).
