On diagrams
« on: December 19, 2022, 08:55:08 am »
I know diagrams haven't received a lot of love recently (defined as since v9),
so I'm wondering if these are "lurv" or just I've never noticed.

Showing alias.
Through a combination of settings it's possible to set on a diagrams the display of alia as well as name.
However the alias for connectors does not show when this setting is enabled.
Is there a setting to show alias for connectors?

Fighting the link layout tool.
In laying out a diagram I change a line type to orthogonal rounded.
Then pin both ends (because EA keeps moving them).
The line styles changes to custom and the rounded corners go away.
How do I stop this (side effect) behaviour?

Orthogonality rules
Using EA16.1 (1627) on Windows 11 Enterprise/64 bit. Repositories in SQLServer2019 DB Schema 1558.
WebEA on Pro Cloud Server 4.2.64

Are you after Alias and Name or just Alias? Work for my diagrams (with just <context menu>| Properties | Diagram | [X] Use Alias if Available ); it may be metatype dependent - I tested on Associations.  (v16.1 - but I think it worked in past versions also.)

This appears to be by design.  Like you, in my view, less than optimal design.  You can ONLY pin the ends if the line style is Custom line.

Thanks Paolo

I desired to display both Alias and Name against connectors.
It doesn't work for me with Association (16.2).

Yes, it should be possible to pin the end of lines regardless of line style.
The line type was an (Archimate) association.

I could only get Alias INSTEAD of Name to work, not both.
