EAPx slow with EA16
« on: September 28, 2023, 07:24:39 pm »
Hi,

I created an EAPx file with EA16.1 as this is the extension chosen by a client. I noticed these local files are not properly handled by EA16.1 as many operations are slowed down when using the tool.
The issue is fixed as soon as I convert it to QEA.

Are you using 64 bit? It's using a completely different driver, so it's not surprising that there would be different performance.

Yes, I'm using the 64 bits version.
So should we suggest using EA16.1 32 bits for EAPx files?
Will the driver included in the 64 bits version will eventually support EAPx to benefit from normal performances ?

thanks

We don't include that driver at all. If you already have the Microsoft Access Database Engine installed then it will be used.

You'll have to ask Microsoft if they are going to improve the performance of their database format that's over 20 years old when accessing it from their latest driver using an architecture that likely wasn't considered at all when the format was created.

Personally, I wouldn't hold my breath.

Thank you for clarifying the dependency with Ms Engine.
