Specification Manager displaying error before open
« on: October 25, 2014, 06:39:35 am »
We have a large database repository in SQLServer (3 Gb aprox). Several modeles, several users, several groups and every package/element/diagram locked to a given group.

Repository was created and tipically used in EA 9.3. We are testing it now using EA11 and we have noted when you try to open Specification Manager for some packages it display an alert with the text: "Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (...) Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value '{A-GUID-LIKE-VALUE}' to data type int."

Below the message you can see the Specification Manager for the selected package, and after clicking OK button in the alert window, the SM works fine.

The GUID-LIKE-VALUE shown in the message is always the same, no matter the package you selected to open the SM. We have tested in different packages, located in different views and different models. For some of them the error is shown (same GUID in the message) and for other is never shown.

This problem only happens in one of 4 EA SQLServer repositories. The problem could not be replicated in EAP or other local files.

Any ideas?

The same issue here using EA 11.0.1107 using a SQL Server based repository with nearly no content in. SQL Server Express 64bit 11.0.2100.60 is used.
What should I try to get rid of this issue?

Best Regards,
Stefan

I tested it again in v 11.1.1113 and the message is different not. It says:
"Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (...) Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'Proposed' to data type int.".

It seems to be related to the element status.

Good News: Now tested in V12 RC2 (where Specification Manager is called now "View as Requirements List") and it seems to work fine. So if you have the same issue wait for the official release of V12.

You can also access it by Tools -> Specification Manager in EA 12.
