Any Build Policy Change????
« on: October 02, 2002, 06:54:58 pm »
I have not seen a new build for a month.  EA used to have a new build every week.  Then, every two weeks.   What happens?  Does the policy change?

I have observed the same.  My guess is that they are about to release a new vesion and are focusing on that for now.  I do look forward to the new builds.  I think I feel like a junky needing a fix :P  One day at a time ;D

Hello,

Kelly is correct, we are currently focusing on version 3.50, which is available (for registered users) for download as a beta version, see the following post for details.
 http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=Latest&action=display&num=1033737381

Once version 3.50 is bedded down we expect to resume the normal upgrade cycle of one every 2 weeks, which is the rate we have always aimed for.  Hope this answers your questions.

Sinchai,

Real quick since Paul stepped in and all.   I didn't know there was a "policy" stated by Sparx regarding formal upgrade / update times.   Perhaps a pre-emptive announcement regarding what is coming should have been stated; however, let's all keep one thing in perspective: Geoff and Paul DO AN OUTSTANDING job with being responsive to new features and correcting problems.    As I shared with them in the past, this type of relationship with all of us is rare in today's environment AND reminds me of the good-old days when developers had a personal stake in the future of their product.  It is refreshing and perhaps we've become a little spoiled to find these guys really in touch with our needs, desires, hopes, and tasks.    Personally, I thank them every day I open EA!

Just my .02

Steve

I love the product as you do.  It 's a great product.  I only notice a change in build cycle.  So, I just wonder what is going on.

Secondly, it may not be a written policy.  But, I saw on this forum which EA state that it will update the product every two weeks.

What I am looking for is only information.
