Customize Toolbox to Use "invokes" and &
« on: May 14, 2003, 08:18:38 am »
We're using EA with the ICONIX process, which utilizes "invokes" and "precedes" stereotypes in use case diagrams instead of "includes" and "extends."

Right now, I have to manually change the stereotype for each link I add in my use case diagrams. Is there a way to customize the toolbox somehow to allow me to select invokes and precedes as the link type?

You can add these stereotypes using from the Reference Menu.

Open the Stereotypes window and add each using the Base Class of "uses".

Then use the "Use" object from the Use Case toolbar and the stereotypes will be available in the properties.

Hope this helps.

Oops!  I wasn't clear enough in the first post.

I HAVE added these stereotypes to the list, but I still have to choose them manually from the combo box in the properties dialog.

What I'm looking for is a way to customize the toolbox so when I create the link, it will automatically use my invokes or precedes stereotypes.

But thank you for the reply!

Profiles is what you are after.  You will need to create a umlprofile xml file and import it.  The easy way would be to modify one of the ones you can get from the EA web site.

There is some information about profiles in the help file that should be useful.
