Anyone heard from Sparx?
« on: August 24, 2004, 08:28:04 am »
Hello all,

My company has a couple lisences for AE Corporate, and we just recently began to work with setting up the SQL based project repository.

Here is the snag - we never got the username's we need to access the restricted area, and though we have sent a number of emials to SparxSystems support, we have yet to hear back.

So, I guess I am hoping someone from Sparx see's this, and can lend a hand to me or one of my co-workers who also sent an email, or maybe someone will be nice enough to email me the SQL Script needed to create the base database.

Thanks all,

Rob

Hi,

I am just wondering, if you do not have the username and password, how did you download the full version of Enterprise Architect that you are using?
When you have purchased EA, you should have gotten an e-mail containing the username and password. Same username/password is used for downloading the EA itself as well as the corporate resources.

Depends where and how you purchased. There are obviously different distribution channels. Probably you can contact Sparx via the license key to give you feedback. (N.B. if it was the company I'm working for they would not be able to trace from the key to the customer. But Sparx is likely better equiped :))

I'm not sure how the product was received.  Software downloads here are sometimes done by the assett team - though we were never told of any username and password for the registered part of the site.

But the developers with the liscense numbers and such have emailed support, and not heard anything back in a week.  No reply at all.

Hi Rob,

that does not sound good. And it's all the better given that the standard way of requesting support is via the registered users section of the site, i.e. using the username and password. I assume you have written to [email protected] ? We have the best of experience with the support there.

Multiple emails in, no reply back.

Which is odd, I would have expected at least one of the people who emailed them would ahve heard something back (even an autoresponce).

Hello RWojczyk,

It seems that none of the emails that you have sent ever reached us here at Sparx. This seems strange as our other users have been able to email us without any problems. I have sent your user details to you email account, so you should have them now.

The really odd thing is that I hadn't gotten anything back from you either.

I'll add my IM's to my profile, so there should be some way we can get in contact.

Well, I know that they like the product here, so I will keep my efforts to make 'first contact' so that I can get the SQL Script and push this into our 'production' development environment and allow the users of it to maximise its benefits.....

Its just odd that emails we send there (and from a previous post that they send us) seem to be lost in transit.. LOL...

RWojczyk,

my e-mails to Sparx never get lost. Maybe you should check your address book and your email settings.

Unless they've mis-posted their address, then I'm fine there.   I don't get a bad mail bounce of any sort.  I even sent one email with a reciept and read notify on, though those can be set to not respond.

I also messaged the Sparx person who responded earlier in this thread - and haven't heard back through the messaging on this forum.

All I need is the SQL Script... anyone able to just email it to me?

Considering all the posting I did prior to the actual 'contact', I figured I should post the happy resolution.

Turns out that somewhere between our companies SMTP server and the Sparx one, something is just not happy.  Someone (sorry, forget the name) from Sparx used a Hotmail account to email my work address almost the same day I used my personal account to email support.

Contact made, information passed, and script acquired.

I have to agree with someone who posted above, that Sparx are pretty responsive when they get the emails...

So I got the script, the developers are testing, the hurricanes seem to have calmed a little (we got 4 in 6 weeks...), and all is stable once again.

Thanks all,

Rob
