DBMS->EAP transferring: custom templates lost
« on: October 13, 2007, 12:13:17 am »
I have a problem with transferring project DBMS->EAP. When indicator displays 'Copying project information for t_document' the several error messages 'types mismatched' displays and all of the artifact objects in the EAP project are empty after transferring. I note that my custom templates was not transferred at all, so I suppose this is the cause of problem.
Anyone have the same thing? Is this a bug in EA or I do something wrong?

I use EA 7 (build 817)

Thank you in advance for your answers

Hard to say, but if this is a bug it needs quick attention.

Here's a couple of things you might try.

First, do a project integrity check, just to see if there is something wrong with the (source) project itself.

No, you can't have it!

Yes, I have corrected one 'invalid connector' error, but this did not resolved problem with transferring.
Could someone try to reproduce this problem before I will post a bug report?

If it will be useful for anyone, below is an answer from the Sparx Systems support:

Unfortunately we can not reproduce this issue
here. It would be very appreciated and helpful if your could provide
following information to us.

-> Which MySQL ODBC driver are you using? We recommend you using MySQL
ODBC driver version 3.51.12.00.

Note:  When you setup ODBC click on the Advanced tab and Flags 1 tab
enable "Don't Optimize Column Width" and "Return Matching Rows"
checkboxes.

-> When you doing project transfer please select "Microsoft OLE DB
Provider for ODBC Drivers"  for the Provider.

Enabling the options "Don't Optimize Column Width" and "Return Matching Rows" resolved the problem.

I'm sure we've seen these two settings before, perhaps a few times.

Perhaps a prominent - since it seems easy to miss if it is currently there - statement to this effect in the user guide would be appropriate. It would have saved you quite a bit of work, and some days in this case.

Sparxians: Please take note.

I know that this issue was going the other way, but when upsizing to a mysql database note of the options is made, and the instructions for setting up an ODBC connection make it very clear.

Thanks Simon,

But, with respect, the screen shot showing these options has both options unchecked, which may well be the source of the confusion. Perhaps changing the picture to show the relevant options as selected would promote clarity.

Sorry - the website Help that we link to in the Forum does not get updated with every minor release, so the screenshot hasn't been refreshed lately.  In the product Help the Advanced / Flags 1 tab shows both the checkboxes selected.
