I need help to change a password or a user.

How can I reset a password of the user administrator in a project (file) in construction?

Project | Security | Manage Users, to display the Security User's dialog.

To set up a new user, enter the user details and click on Single Permissions and (if necessary) group membership. If a group, you should set up the group and its permissions first (Project | Security | Manage Groups).

To add or change a password, on the Security User's dialog click on the Change Password button and enter the current password and the new password. For new users, I believe the initial password is 'password', but I will check.

This is not well documented in the Help, so I will update it and see if I can improve matters for the 7.1 release.

OK - I have been into this and documented it more thoroughly now (and I'm assuming that you want to change a password through the User Interface, not through the AI).

First point - a USER can change their own password by selecting the Project | Security | Change Password menu option. They have to provide their current password.

If they forget their current password, they have to ask an ADMINISTRATOR to change/reset the password through the Security Users dialog, as I mentioned in my last post. However, the Administrator does not require the user's current password. They only enter and confirm the new password. The Administrator can change any other user's password.

An Administrator could change their own password through either method.

Some time ago I muddled through this. The reason I did not step in was that I tried several things, and by the time I got it working I was really not sure I had it right.

I should have raised it at the time, but failed to do so. For that I apologize.
