XSD Round-Trip Development
« on: April 07, 2007, 01:38:58 am »
I am happy modeling xml vocabulary and generating the xsd from EA. I would like to use the built-in editor to review the code (using line numbers and colour coding if possible) and validate (that may require a feature enhancement) the output of the generation process.

Can anyone provide pointers on how I may activate the internal editor to work with xsd files and also make it sense changes to the generated XSD file.

Check out the Tools menu in EA. Then look up Custom Tools in the EA help.

Unfortunately this seems to be where things end, at least in your case. If you open Options | Tools | Source Code Engineering | Code Editors you'll note the absence of any XML dialects here. Thus, you cannot set a custom editor program up for this.

Perhaps you'd like to make the suggestion to Sparx directly. My suggestion is that you use both the Feature Request route and the Suggestions and Requests section of this forum, in that order. Look up some of my recent replies to other threads for a proposed best practice on how to do this.
